The FG begins evacuation of willing Nigerians in Iran as authorities move to bring citizens home from the country following the security situation in the region. Nigerian officials confirmed that those who requested assistance are being escorted out through the Armenia border.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM),
said the evacuation process started on Tuesday with support from officials at the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran.

According to her, embassy staff are guiding Nigerians who chose to leave Iran and helping them cross safely into Armenia.

She explained that the process is being handled carefully to ensure citizens are moved without complications at the border.

“The willing Nigerians in Iran are being safely escorted across the Armenia border by officials from the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran,” she said.
She added that embassy personnel are present at the crossing point to receive evacuees and help them continue their journey.

Dabiri-Erewa also stated that there have been no reports of Nigerians injured or harmed in the situation so far.
