Senator Natasha Akpoti |
The Kogi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the attack on Senator Natasha Akpoti's family home in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area, Kogi State. According to a statement issued on Friday by SP William Aya, the State Police Public Relations Officer, the investigation was prompted by reports on Thursday that Natasha's rural home had been attacked by some unidentified thugs.
On April 16, 2025, at around 1:00AM, Senator Natasha's assistant, Yakubu Ovanja, called the Divisional Police Officer assigned to Okehi Division to report that a group of thugs carrying cutlasses had broken some of the front window glass in the Senator's family home at around 1:00 AM
The DPO promptly mobilized his men for an on-the-spot assessment after receiving the information. He met a young man named Michael Akpoti there, who told him how the thugs tried to enter the house and used cutlasses to damage the building before he sounded an alarm that made them leave.
In light of the aforementioned, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the alleged attack discreetly and promptly in order to identify its cause and apprehend its perpetrators. Although the cause of the attack is still unknown, Natasha's associates are accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of being behind it.

Israel Arogbonlo, the senator's chief press secretary, said Thursday that the senator was the target of the attack. , We condemned the horrific attack on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan's family home in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State, on Tuesday, April 15. Because they believed the senator was present, armed men broke windows at her grandfather's house. Fortunately, security guards moved swiftly to stop the attack. This planned attack appears to have been sparked by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan's courageous stand against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual harassment. We beg the Inspector General of Police to restore her security information as soon as possible.
Sharing Natasha's claim of the incident, Arogbonlo continued, "Two days ago, my younger brother took some contractors to my hometown in Ihima to inspect locations for upcoming projects I attracted to my senatorial district."
That night, the unidentified gunmen, believing I was the one in town, attacked my family's house. Thankfully, the civil defense squad and members of the community arrived promptly and drove them away. A report was sent to the police area command, and no one was hurt.
